Sofia Vettori was born in Fiesole in 1981 as the daughter of Paolo and the granddaughter of Dario, known as "Il liutaio della montagna". She began to take an interest in the world of music at a very early age, studying the violin first privately, then at the Cherubini Conservatory in Florence and in 2005 she awarded her diploma under the guidance of Petru Horvath at the Mascagni Conservatory in Livorno.

She also attended the Faculty of Literature in Florence, studying the old Mesoptamian archeology awarding her diploma in 2004.

Sofia devotes herself to restoration, research on varnishes and the adjustment of the instruments, as she is a professional violinist.

For her instruments she prefers "the old style looking" of work, using models of Guarneri del Gesu, following his techique and aesthetic.

Studying the old formulas of varnish, which she found in old manuscripts of grandfather Dario, she increased researches in the matter.

Researches that allowed to reach the quality of the varnish which is typical of the instruments of the whole family members.
